Fueled by a desire sparked in her teenage years to help those suffering from substance abuse, Kathy Altieri became certified in substance abuse therapy. Within the first few years of her practice, she began to notice a correlation between substance abuse and mental health issues. Returning to school to delve deeper into the psychological side of substance abuse, Kathy earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Development. She accepted a position with the firm of Callahan, Petro & Associates where she specialized in substance abuse treatment from the practice's very inception. When the firm's owners decided to retire, Kathy purchased the practice in June 2003, changed the name to Altieri & Associates, and has been continuing to build on their highly regarded legacy ever since. We visited with Kathy recently and listened as she described her practice;

Altieri & Associates specializes in all aspects of counseling including substance abuse assessments, interventions, counseling, after care, and case management. We offer on-site drug testing in addition to family and marriage counseling and providing therapy to address ADHD, depression, mood disorders, and personality disorders. We work closely with referrals from the local juvenile and adult courts, the local school district, and our services are also available to those without a referral.

Everybody seems to be feeling the stress of the world today and our mission is to provide a place where people can come in, feel comfortable in a home-like setting, talk about their problems without being judged, and to be able to walk out of here saying, "Wow! I feel so much better!" We're concerned about peoples' needs, we're concerned about families, and we're concerned about just making people feel better.

We accept all types of insurance and we work with those who don't have insurance. For those who have insurance, we'll work with their insurance company to determine their eligibility and we'll handle the billing for them. For those without insurance coverage, we have sliding fee scales for those who can't afford the entire fee. Our goal is to reach people and provide them with a comfortable place to work out their difficulties, regardless of their current financial situation.
