Is there one of us who can honestly say we're not concerned about the environment? Anyone who in their heart of hearts doesn't share an apprehension over the environmental legacy we're passing on to our children and grand-children? We met recently with Ted N. Trikilis (T.N.T.), President of PIE International, Inc. dba Aran™ Aqua Pollution Control Systems, and listened as he revolutionized our thinking while telling of his family's mission to dramatically improve the quality of our air;
HomOzone™ was established in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1920 by the Automatic Electrical Devices Company, which produced a machine called HOmozone, and that's a trademark they established for an ozone air purifier. My father, Nick Trikilis got involved with the company in 1946. He was welding bombs for the Allies from 1941 to 1945 working two shifts, one at Union Metal, and one at Republic Steel. After the war, he couldn't make the money he had been making welding bombs, so he became a salesperson.
One of the first places where he sold was in Parma, Ohio. He sold so many houses in Parma that he actually worked himself out of a job. When you think of Parma you think of all those small, nice little bungalows at very reasonable prices that were built for the GI's after the war. They called my dad into the office one day and told him, "Nick, we're going to have to let you go. You sold too many houses, and we're going to have to refund some of the deposits." My dad then went out and started selling garage doors. He sold too many of those, too, and they had to let him go.
He then went to work for Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Company. He thought it was one of the finest vacuum cleaners ever made and the Kirby Company was also selling the HomOzone™ unit to clean the air in a house using ozone. And, in 1946, my father was selling so many HomOzone™ units, that they made him a distributor. In 1950, he sold so many HomOzone™ units, he bought the company and moved it from Cincinnati, Ohio to Canton, Ohio. My father then founded a company called Aranair Corporation where he worked on a new generator that could make higher forms of oxygen than ozone, which is O3, and he termed it "Aran™". That is our trademark for the higher forms of oxygen greater than ozone.
I want to go on the record as saying that for most people, the word ozone has bad connotations. In reality, though, ozone is not harmful. The government has made it out to be harmful due to the immense amount of lobbying that goes on. In fact, I have written to the FDA, the EPA, and OSHA in which I asked them under the Freedom of Information Act to provide me all of the information they have on ozone. Neither the FDA, the EPA or OSHA has any evidence of any human being in their entire history, from the day they were started to the present, being damaged by exposure to ozone, having any bodily harm, being exposed to ozone, or sustaining any incapacitations after being exposed to ozone. There's never been even one death attributed to ozone exposure.
The government, although, has set the limits of ozone in the public at .1 part per million. Now, if you look up other dangerous chemicals that they have listed, they give carbon monoxide 50 parts per million. That's 500 times more than ozone is given. If you look at chlorine gas used as a weapon during World War II, it's set at 1.0 parts per million, 10 times greater than ozone. And, if you look at acetone, which is found in nail polish remover, in a lot of adhesives, as was responsible in the 70's for young kids getting brain damage because they used to smell airplane glue, acetone was given 1,000 parts per million, or a non-toxicity limit of 10,000 times greater than ozone.
In 1950, the United States Navy, Bureau of Ships, wanted to test ozone to see if it was toxic, so they asked the Armour Research Foundation in Chicago, Illinois, to conduct the tests. The Acting Director for the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Clark Thorpe, looked at the history of ozone to determine why it was considered to be toxic. He noticed that in every test that was ever conducted, the tests made no reference to the presence of oxides of nitrogen, NOX. NOX is important because that's what all these 28 coal-burning facilities in Ohio are spewing out, and NOX contributes to nitric acid and nitrous acid rain. Ohio has the distinction of being the dirtiest state in the nation when it come to nitrous acid rain.
Clark Thorpe discovered that no one had ever mentioned the absence of oxides of nitrogen. He didn't know whether or not the toxicity of ozone was related to the oxides of nitrogen, or to ozone, itself. He decided to run tests using cylinder oxygen in an ozonator, and after he ran these tests, he came to the conclusion that you could breathe ozone in quantities of 50 parts per million with no toxic effects. Now, this is one of the reasons why it's kind of controversial. Why are they trying to limit the use of ozone?
Another test was done in 1956, and this test was distributed to the people who attended the International Ozone Conference in Chicago, Illinois, which my father also attended. The International Ozone Conference was attended by organizations such as Dow Chemical, DuPont, Monsanto, Grace Chemical, and every branch of the U.S. military, in addition to 70 or 80 professors from chemistry departments from all over the United States. This was an international gathering of over 400 people. In digging through the archives, I've found a document which surprised me because it talked about the Chemical Corps in Fort Dietrich submitting material to the Armour Research Foundation for them to test ozone against various bacteria and viruses.
The bacteria they tested was bacillus subtilus var niger, bacillus anthracis spores, which is anthrax, e-coli T3, clostridium botulism, and the influenza virus. They used 100 parts per million of ozone to test against these bacteria and viruses and found that within five minutes 99.9% of all of these viruses and bacteria were killed. In 90 minutes, they had total sterility.
After 9/11 when anthrax was discovered in the post office, the Hart building, and the National Enquirer building, they used chlorine dioxide, which is a poison, to kill the anthrax spore. When Dr. Anderson was before the Senate Committee and they asked, "Did the chlorine dioxide kill all of the anthrax spores?", Dr. Anderson replied, "There's about a one in a million chance that there are any spores left." The point is, one in a million means that one person out of a million could have gotten pulmonary anthrax. It wasn't 100% eradicated. If they would have used ozone in the Hart building, there would have been no residual spores, there would have been no damages, and there would have been no clean-up. Instead, they used chlorine dioxide because handling chlorine dioxide is big business. It cost about $8,000,000 to attempt to eradicate the anthrax in the Hart building, another $8,000,000 to clean up the building afterward, and they weren't even sure whether they got all of these spores.
ARAN™ Aqua Pollution Control Systems manufactures equipment that is used for killing mold and bacteria. We've had testing performed by EPA-registered laboratories that show absolutely phenomenal results. In one test, a homeowner in Cleveland, Ohio and her child stayed in the house she had bought for two years. During this time, she and her child were constantly ill. One of our indoor air quality specialists performed swab tests throughout the house wherever there was an indication of pollution, mold, and bacteria. After performing the swab tests, he bagged the samples, and then put our machine in the house and let it run for 120 hours.
After our machine had run for five days, he did identical swab tests and sent the samples to EMSL Analytical Laboratories in New Jersey. The test results showed the home originally had a 196 million count of staphylococcus, 210 million count of micrococcuses, and a 24 thousand average of rodotorula, rhizopus, and penicillium, all fungi which are very dangerous for human beings to breathe. The results were so bad that if our indoor air quality specialist had known this quantity of pollutants and bacteria existed in this home, he would never have gone in to do the testing. However, after 120 hours with our machine, there were absolutely none of these organisms detected, meaning that we had completely eradicated all of the pollution, mold, and bacteria. with one of our machines.
Our machines are not your average day-to-day air purifiers. They are air purifiers that take the oxygen in your room, convert it to a higher level of oxygen (ARAN™), and not only kills bacteria and fungi but completely deodorizes, as well. These machines remove cigar and cigarette smoke from bingo halls, restaurants, gambling casinos, and also homes. They'll completely remove the cigar and cigarette smoke smell in a matter of hours. They are used as air purifiers to remove all types of cooking odors. You can fry fish while our machine is on and you can't even tell you're cooking fish. They work as sterilizers to keep your home free from bacteria, flu viruses, and fungi. Once your house has been purified, you leave it running constantly and the unit continues to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our units are very energy-efficient. A small unit may use 15 watts electricity, about the same amount a 15-watt light bulb will use. That translates to a cost of about two to three cents a day. The bigger units may use 40 to 50 watts, which is like running a 60-watt light bulb. For this amazingly low cost, you receive the security of knowing that the air your family is breathing is completely free from contamination and substances that could cause you bodily harm. These units are so safe that in the 58 years that our family has been involved in this air purification business, we've never had one claim brought against our company for any type of injury sustained by a human being, and we have sold hundreds of thousands of these machines.
We constantly receive letters of appreciation from people who had been suffering from upper respiratory problems, those who were chemically disabled, those having asthma or emphysema as a result of smoking for years. I received this letter on August 13, 2005;
Just a note to tell you all thank you so very much. I bought a new home January, 2005, and from the time I moved in, I started having respiratory problems. I spent years living naturally and healthy, illness-free. In the eight months I've been in this new home, I've been to the doctor and put on antibiotics for severe upper respiratory infection three times. I've prayed and begged God to show me an answer to this situation, even if it meant selling the house and moving. I found out about the Aranizer from my chiropractor. I immediately purchased an Aranizer and set it up in my home. Within 24 hours, I was breathing better. After one week, I'm not having any breathing problems, no runny nose, no burning eyes, no disrupted sleep from choking all night long. Thank you Aranizer! You are truly a great answer to a prayer and physical health!
Sincerely,
Paulette Lidvanov
When you begin using an Aranizer™, sometimes your lungs are so fragile that any type of chemical, including Aran™, might aggravate them. We advise you to not attempt to treat your home all in one day. If you have sensitive lungs, turn the Aranizer™ on to it's lowest setting to give your body a chance to detoxify. Once you start getting used to the fresh smell of Aran™ you can adjust the level to a point where you feel comfortable. Eventually, Aran™ becomes odorless because it removes the odors you're used to smelling and replaces them with clean air.
All of our units have tremendous warranties. The SS series has a 4 year parts and labor warranty, and the NS models have an 8 year parts and labor warranty. If you want to extend the warranty coverage of any one of those machines for 25 years, it's just a small $150 increase in the cost of the unit. We make these units from the very finest materials, and if we can find a better material, we'll make the switch, even if it means we have to raise our prices.
I've written two letters to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of American Electric Power. The first one got his attention, and the second one, I hope, will motivate the company to look at our process for cleaning up the state of Ohio. Their plants spew out tons and tons of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, oxides of nitrogen and carbon monoxide. These coal-burning facilities produced $221,000,000 in net profits for American Electric Power in the last quarter, according to the August 1, 2005 edition of The Wall Street Journal. The same article told of a woman whose son has mercury poisoning, the result of beginning to eat tuna fish instead of junk food. He was eating so much tuna fish that his body started to show signs of poisoning. When she went to the doctor, the doctor discovered her son had 16 times the amount of mercury in his body that a normal human being would have from eating tuna fish once or twice a week. I wrote another letter to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of American Electric Power asking him, "When will the people who are his shareholders, who live on this planet, take less money in dividends and start putting money in to the research of cleaning up the facility that's polluting our planet?"
We're all living on a planet where we have no control over our lives. We allow people in big business and those in Congress to make decisions that affect all of us. These people live in areas where they don't experience the day-to-day exposure to pollution. I've never missed an opportunity to vote, but sometimes I'll wonder why I'm voting because if we can't elect people who are looking after our environment, why are we electing these people at all? We're losing jobs to countries that are not keeping any type of pollution control, and we're losing jobs to countries in which their labor force does not have the same standard or quality of life that our country has. We have to ask ourselves what the motives are of these politicians who allow this to happen. Even with gasoline costing $2.60 a gallon, we're paying more per gallon for bottled water than gasoline. What standards will we live by, and what legacy are we leaving to the next generation? We have to be inspired in the things we do today in order for the next generation to be inspired by the things they will do tomorrow. If we can't do that, then maybe our country is not as free as we'd like think.
Isn't it time you see how improving the quality of the air your family breathes can change your life? Call Aran™ Aqua Pollution Control Systems today, and don't forget to tell them The Advocate sent you!
