Where Someone Cares

After the success of the Forest Meadows Villas independent living facility in 1986, Mel and David Gershpacher and Agnes Keenan noticed that some of their residents didn't have the energy for cleaning and cooking, while others didn't want to cook for one person and dine alone. As they discussed how nice it would be if only they could provide the cooking and cleaning service for the residents, they began to ask residents if it was a concept that captured their interest. The residents thought is was a good idea, and the planning stage was begun. They broke ground in early 1994, and by August 5 Camelot Place was open for business. We met recently with Agnes, Mel, and David, and listened as they outlive the accommodations available at Camelot Place;

Camelot Place is a 100 unit, full-service assisted living facility providing our residents with not only housing, but meals, housecleaning, Hospice, and medical services, as well. We have a nurse on staff around the clock to tend to immediate needs, in addition to our regular compliment of three LPNs, two house doctors, two foot doctors, two eye doctors, and a hearing doctor. We offer chiropractic services to our residents, and we have an on-site bank, beauty shop, gift shop, restaurant, billiard room, exercise room with equipment, and jacuzzi. Our motto is "Where Someone Cares", and we have a very caring, gentle staff dedicated to our residents' well-being.

Our units range from 410 square feet to 845 square feet, and our residents frequently comment that it's like living in their own apartment or in a fine hotel. They have the ability to come and go as they please, use their cars, and avail themselves of our five-acre lake complete with swimming, boating, and fishing. We're surrounded by nature at its finest while enjoying the convenience of being close to major shopping areas.

We hold church services every Sunday from 1:00 to 1:30 with between 100 to 110 in attendance, and we're served by several excellent ministers from the local area who give their time to conduct the services for our residents. One of our participating ministers has a ministry for the Lord in Akron and gives his time freely to help minister to our residents through music.

We have several dedicated units for housing families visiting our residents so they'll have the privacy they need as they visit with their loved ones. These guest rooms are full on and off throughout the winter, and when summer comes, they're packed. We endeavor to go above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of our residents. We have our own activity director, and we encourage each resident to participate in several activities each week. We have activities scheduled seven days a week to ensure our residents are living full, well-balanced lives.

Camelot Place strives to provide their residents with a sense of community and the very best care possible. Call Agnes Keenan or stop by Camelot Place to meet with her personally today, and don't forget to her The Advocate sent you!
