Frank W. Farkas has been attending auctions, flea markets, and automotive swap meets most of his life. As he was preparing to retire from a career at Ford Motor Company as a maintenance welder, Frank attended the Walton School of Auctioneering where he learned to forge one of his lifelong interests into a new career. We stopped by Frank W. Farkas Auction Services recently, and listened as Frank outlined the services he offers;
"Frank W. Farkas Auction Services is a complete commercial and residential auction service. I handle everything from A to Z and if it can be sold, I can auction it. My specialty is auctioning automotive parts and equipment as I have over fifty years experience in the automotive parts and swap meet business."
"Most auctioneers have their own specialty, and although I can auction anything, my expertise and background in the automotive field gives me an edge when auctioning any quantity, large or small, of automotive tools and equipment. I'm a very organized, perfectionist type person so I'll take a personal interest in making your auction successful. I'll work with you hand-in-hand from beginning to end, even helping with the pre-auction sort out and set up. I pride myself on knowing the items to be auctioned well, and treating your auction as if it were my own. I strive to keep your buyers interest by moving your auction along as quickly and clearly as possible, and by making sure your sale is fun, interesting, and enjoyable for everyone involved."
"An auction is one of the fastest, easiest, and most profitable ways to liquidate assets in the United States. It's extremely efficient, but you have to have enough quantity and quality of merchandise in order to generate a profit and to cover the cost of the auction. I'll talk with you to determine if you have the quality and quantity of merchandise that will make an auction worthwhile, and if I don't feel you have enough, I'll tell you upfront that I don't think an auction would be beneficial in your particular situation."
"I feel that I bring a different perspective to my customers as I'm not only an auctioneer licensed and bonded in the state of Ohio and by the Dept. of Agriculture, but I've been going to auctions throughout my entire life. Having been a buyer at auctions myself, I understand what it's like standing out in the crowd as a buyer. When I became an auctioneer, I made it a point to correct the things that used to aggravate me when I was a buyer. I want to make sure that everyone in the crowd is happy with the way the auction is going, because if I've got a happy customer, you'll have a successful sale."
"In addition to my auction business, I also buy and sell automotive parts at swap meets. From the time I was just a teenager, my father and step-father taught me the business and how to work on cars. I've raced, fabricated, and welded all my life. I retired from Ford Motor Company after thirty years and have run my own welding fabrication shop. I've built race cars and have experience drag racing and oval racing. If there's anything in the automotive field that can be bought for a reasonable price and sold at a reasonable price, I'm looking for it, as I've also been involved in the sales field all my life."
