In 1994 Fuserashi International Technology, Inc. opened a liaison office in Medina, leasing space from a factory with whom they worked. The company found the business climate in Medina County to be so advantageous, they moved their operations to a new facility in Valley City in 1997. Since that time, the company has continued to grow both in terms of facility size and number of employees. We visited recently with President Marty Shimada, Plant Manager Hal Wagoner, and Controller and Human Resource Manager Bill Cadman, and listened as they outlined the company's commitment to quality and the Medina County community;
F.I.T., Inc. is a subsidiary of Fuserashi Company, Ltd. in Japan and specializes in manufacturing cold-forming parts for a wide range of industries including automotive and heavy machinery. We supply our customers with a diverse selection of high precision parts, including fasteners, inner-pipes, and bushings. We're QS-9000 and ISO-14001 certified to guarantee we'll consistently provide you with the highest quality parts at a very competitive price.
We pride ourselves on maintaining a very safe and clean workplace. Anyone touring our factory would find it to be one of the cleanest and most appealing work environments in the manufacturing industry. Our initial building, completed in September 1997, was 30,000 square feet of factory space with an additional 5,000 square feet of office space. In June 2002, we doubled the size of the factory to 60,000 square feet, and in 2003 we added a cafeteria and conference rooms. By the beginning of 2006 we will have added another 30,000 square foot expansion to the factory with an additional 10,000 square feet dedicated to maintenance and tooling. We strive to utilize local contractors and suppliers throughout all of our expansions.
We currently provide employment for thirty-three full-time associates, most of whom are Medina County residents. We've grown our employment base every year since we opened, and many of our original associates are still here. F.I.T. has assembled an attractive employment package designed to encourage our associates to remain with the company. Our associates receive a excellent benefit plan, in addition to being able to participate in many activities, such as our annual employee picnic and award lunches. To encourage our associates' interest in the health of themselves and their families, we're going to host a health fair for them in cooperation with Medina General Hospital.
From the very beginning we've tried to stay as lean as possible.
