A Dedication to Honesty

Don Horner had always dreamed of owning his own business and, while attending trade school, discovered a love for heating and air conditioning. After completing his schooling in 1982, Don began doing service calls for family and friends who were eager to tell their family and friends what a great job he did. His reputation grew solely by referrals and today, Horner Heating & Air has grown to include Don's wife Terry as their office manager and three employees. Don explains his success and the services his company offers with these words;

Horner Heating & Air installs and services all types of heating and air conditioning equipment from boilers to baseboard heating. We service Medina County, Northeast Ohio, and as far away as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia. I'm very honest with all my customers and I always try to help them save money. That's how I've run my business since the very beginning and the steady flow of referrals from my past customers shows just how much they appreciate being treated fairly.

Many people decide to replace their older furnaces due to the furnaces inefficiencies. The less inefficient your furnace is, the more your hard earned dollars are wasted each month. You can definitely save money with the newer, higher efficiency furnaces. To determine if a furnace should be replaced, I look at the age of furnace and I tell them how much they can save in fuel costs with a new one. I show them how the new furnace will pay for itself in just a few years and will leave extra money in their pocket once the cost of the new furnace is recovered.

I service every make and model of furnace whether I installed it or not and I also work on boilers and radiators. Gas is the most popular heat source right now since it's a lot warmer than electric heat and it's more economical. We can convert homes from electric heat to gas heat and we can add air conditioning units to any home.

Having your ducts cleaned is a good idea especially if your home is forty or fifty years old. Cleaning will help make your furnace more efficient and it keeps your home a lot cleaner. A yearly servicing and cleaning of your furnace will also add to its efficiency and will make your furnace last a lot longer, too. While performing the cleaning service, I check all the valves, blowers, vents, and belts, make sure the heat exchanger is not cracked, and make sure the furnace is operating properly. If you have air conditioning, the outside air conditioner will benefit from yearly servicing, also. I make sure the fan motor is performing properly and the compressor is working at the proper amperage, check the vents, and check the Freon level. I offer a service contract to my customers after I install new equipment that includes this service on a yearly or every other year schedule.

Horner Heating & Air performs carbon monoxide testing where we check the furnace's heat exchanger, the venting of the gasses, and make sure there's no carbon monoxide in the home. Everything that burns can produce carbon monoxide and I recommend that everyone have a carbon monoxide detector regardless of the type or age of their furnace. Carbon monoxide is an odorless but lethal gas and carbon monoxide detectors have been credited with saving many lives.

We're members of the Better Business Bureau and the Medina County Heating and Cooling Electrical Contractor Association. We're state certified in heating and air conditioning, refrigeration, and boiler operation in addition to being licensed electricians, fully insured, and bonded.

I believe that you can do anything you decide you want to do. I wanted my own business, took the plunge, and have been self employed for the past twenty years now. My wife runs the office, and together, we've found that high quality workmanship and a dedication to honesty have been the keys to our success.

Put your heating and air conditioning needs in the hands of a company that works hard every day to earn your trust. Call Horner Heating & Air for a free estimate and don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you!
