A Staff of Artists

When our business editor told me she was going to The Barber of Seville last Wednesday afternoon, I assumed that the Cleveland Opera was performing a mid-week matinee. In actuality, it turns out that she was going to Innovations at The Barber of Seville, the local hair salon where, although our business editor claims she heard no singing, the entire staff are indeed artists. Anne Buckland, owner of Innovations, gave us the guided tour of the shop and taught us about her staff of artists;

I've had Innovations since 1986. Actually, I've been a hair dresser for thirty-five years and I was managing another salon when they unexpectedly announced they were closing. I had already thought about opening my own shop a few times before and since my girls and myself needed some place to go, I bought The Barber of Seville Family Hair Care. It was a barber shop and a small hair salon combined and we tore out walls and remodeled it into one complete salon in record time. I renamed the shop Innovations at the Barber of Seville because this is such an innovative business where we're always on the cutting edge and learning new things.

We have seven stylists and two nail technicians and we do all types and styles of hair and nail care for both men and women. We do cuts, shampooing, coloring, overlays, highlights, bi-lights, and tri-lights in addition to foiling, floating triangles, batiking, perms, protein treatments, up-dos, and braids. We offer manicures, pedicures, and both acrylic and fiberglass nails. We get a lot of nice comments on our pedicures which usually take about an hour. Brandi has you soak your feet for about ten minutes and then she massages them and our clients tell us that the massage is wonderful and makes you really feel relaxed. We have two nail technicians and three of our stylists have also been trained to offer regular barber shop style hair cuts. To offer a total salon experience, we also offer facial waxing and have a tanning bed that will keep you looking vibrant year 'round.

We retail Kenra and Tressa products and use all Tressa products on our clients. Actually, I'm an educator for Tressa and have worked with the products for over twenty years. I teach about the product, perms, colors, and cuts throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania so that way my girls are always in on the latest changes. The Tressa products are made in Cincinnati by a family owned company and they're fantastic. You can't even find them in the drug stores since they're created especially for the professional stylist.

We're a small, friendly salon and our stylists are up on the latest technology. Mostly, we work by appointment but we do try to accommodate walk-ins, too. All of my girls do up-dos and we host bridal parties where we schedule the entire salon for the bridal party to prepare for the wedding. Our clients come from Medina, Wayne, and Summit Counties and I can't think of any style that we don't do here.

For a great salon experience and the opportunity to brag about being at The Barber of Seville, call Innovations for an appointment today and don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you!
