In 1981 Life Care Centers of America, an organization responsible for running over 260 senior and health care facilities in twenty-eight states, purchased Shangri-La and renamed the facility Life Care Center of Medina. Life Care Center of Medina is a 156 bed, licensed skilled nursing facility providing a wide variety of services to assist people in reaching their highest level of independent functioning. We offer short-term skilled care, rehabilitative care, long-term nursing care, Alzheimer's care, in-house hemodialysis, and respiratory care. Physical, occupational, speech, respiratory, and anodyne therapies are available on an in-patient and out-patient basis. We serve patients ranging from their mid-twenties to their nineties, and we combine our staff's medical expertise with a very home-like environment and plenty of tender loving care to develop programs that meet the individualized needs of our residents.
Our designated Rehabilitation Unit offers private room accommodations and a private entrance that enables our short-term rehabilitation and skilled residents to regain the skills needed to return home. We strive to build positive, interactive relationships with our residents and their families, and are very proud of the modern therapeutic techniques that enable our short-term rehabilitation residents to return home quicker.
We provide Alzheimer's Care through a secured, specialized unit, The Terrace, where we offer a wide variety of activities for residents that have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. Montessori programming is used in activities that are designed to help residents re-gain skills they've lost through the dementia process.
We offer Assisted Living for our residents at Horizon Inn, an eight bedroom house located on our campus. Staffed with a Nursing Assistant twenty-four hours a day, this home-like setting provides each resident with their own room, in addition to a common dining and living room. Our assisted living and long-term care residents, in addition to our skilled care patients, can avail themselves of planned daily activities and have the opportunity to enjoy shopping trips, lunches, and various community outings.
Our in-house Hemodialysis, provided by Fresenius, offers the convenience of dialysis on-site and helps to eliminate the cost of transportation to an off-site location. With Fresenius, we offer state-of-the-art equipment, along with a fantastic staff-to-resident ratio.
Our ability to offer a Respiratory Unit also makes us unique. A Respiratory Therapist, employed by Life Care, is on location twenty-four hours per day. Services on the Respiratory Unit include vent care and trach care. Our quality of care is fantastic and we welcome everyone to stop by, visit, and take a tour of our facility.
All of our nursing staff and therapeutic professionals are employed by Life Care Center of Medina.
