The Romeyn family began camping when their youngest child was three years old. Career choices had brought them from the metropolitan New York area to Akron, Ohio where a real estate broker happened to mention that he had a campground for sale. Traveling to Seville to have a look at the campground, the Romeyns fell in love with the 115 acre site and in April 1971 Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park became their new home and a career that has spanned over three decades. This family campground, run by Mary Frances Romeyn and her son Robert, provides campers and visitors with one of the finest camping areas in the state of Ohio. Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park's friendly, wholesome atmosphere features 225 sites, each with water and electric hook-ups (both 30 amp & 50 amp) and many with sewer hook-ups in addition to plenty of amenities designed to provide an unequaled camping experience. From their hot showers to the new, enlarged on-site laundry and their eco-friendly sanitary dump station, Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park makes sure their guests every need is met. Their sites cater to all types of campers including tents, big rigs, and everything in between. The popularity of Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park keeps approximately 185 of their sites rented for the entire season while 40 sites remain available to accommodate daily, weekend, and monthly campers and travelers. Campers can choose their own site from locations along the tree line or those completely surrounded by the woods to enable them to find the perfect spot whether they prefer full shade, partial shade, or bright, open spots that are in the sun all. Those interested in sport fishing appreciate their two lakes that are stocked with bass, blue gill, bullhead catfish, and channel catfish and the swimmers in your group will love the new, heated swimming pool. With activities for every age group, each member of your party will stay entertained for hours. Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park hosts two playgrounds, a basketball court, horse shoe tournaments, a softball league, and a game room with over twenty games plus a billiards table. They have hay rides, bands, movies, Halloween parties, Christmas in July, and many other children's activities. You'll be pleased to discover Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park's small grocery store where you can pick up pop, ice cream, butter, eggs, bread, paper plates and napkins, and other household items needed to keep your camping trip running smoothly. Sports fans will be congregated around their big screen TV so they don't miss the excitement from their favorite team and after the day's activities, you'll be able to relax and enjoy a camp fire as another peaceful day concludes. With quiet hours from 11:00 pm until 8:00 am, your night's sleep will provide a blissful tranquility to recharge your batteries for another day's fun. Pets are allowed at Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park and a special exercise area is provided just for them. The campground facilities are available to campers and non-campers alike with daily swimming open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and Maple Lakes' five pavilions available for company picnics, family reunions, and church gatherings. Even after thirty-two years, Mary Frances is still in love with the land and enjoys visiting with the campers and hearing stories of their experiences as she works the front desk leaving Robert free to handle the maintenance of the property, the mowing, repairs, and all of their own construction. Together, they endeavor to make their guests feel at home and to show them an unequaled camping experience. Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park is centrally located with easy freeway access and close to shopping, restaurants, an 18 hole golf course, and auctions galore. Whether you're on the road or looking for a summer home, Maple Lakes Campground & Recreational Park provides an experience that can't be beat. Stop by and visit and while you're there, don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you! |
