Bill Suliks began his automotive repair career at a tender, young age. His parents had a vehicle needing repair and were without the money to repair it. Bill talked his father into allowing him to "take it apart and see what he could do with it". With some research, books, and a little help along the way, Bill was able to repair his father's car and, when Bill turned sixteen years of age, his father gave the car to him. This early taste of mechanical success was all Bill needed to encourage him to make repairing vehicles his career. Starting in Barberton, Bill decided to move the business to Medina in April 1973. Medina was beginning to grow rapidly and Bill found the area particularly impressive. He opened Medina City Exxon at the corner of Court and Lafayette where the business continued to grow until they needed more space in early 1977. During those initial four years, Bill discovered that he enjoyed repairing transmissions but disliked selling gasoline, so, when he moved the shop to its current W. Smith location, they gave up the gas pumps and changed the name of the business to Medina Transmission. Bill has been joined in business by his son Joe and Shop Manager Mike Morgan in addition to a staff of well trained automotive technicians. We visited recently with Bill and listened as he explained their range of services and his philosophy of business;
