It's Fun!

Rick and Ryan Sullivan are a father-son team who love to have fun. These new owners of the Rinky Dink Family Fun Center are continuing the forty year old Rinky Dink tradition of providing the community with entertainment for the entire family. As a teenager, Rick played at Rinky Dink when it was located in Montrose and, after selling his previous business, he decided that owning this fun center would be, well, fun! He hasn't been disappointed and this week he's taken the time to let us in on what you'll find at Rinky Dink and what they'll be adding soon. Here's Rick to tell us about the activities at Rinky Dink:

We're a family entertainment center. We have two eighteen hole golf courses featuring holes that are fifty to sixty feet long rather than the ten to twenty foot length normally found at putt-putt courses. That's been our trademark since the very beginning and has kept people coming back since we opened. We also have six batting cages, a go-cart track, a large video arcade, a snack bar, and the capability to do birthday parties, corporate parties, and fundraisers.

Our ten go-carts go eighteen to twenty five miles per hour and while that's not real fast, when you're that close to the ground it's a real thrill. For drivers of our go-carts, there's a minimum age requirement of twelve years old and minimum height requirement of fifty-six inches tall. Adults can ride them, too, and we also have double cars so that if a child doesn't meet the age or height requirements, the parent can drive and the child can sit next to them.

We have a little over thirty video arcade games, a juke box, and two big pavilions that seat one hundred forty people. We're currently building an indoor glow in the dark mini-golf course. The course is already on order and we're doing the preparation to have it up and running by the end of October 2003. Our future plans hopefully will include indoor bumper cars and a rock climbing wall.

For our typical parties, we put their name on the sign out front and we supply pizza, soft drinks, a Dairy Queen ice cream cake, and a Pinata for those under ten years of age. Those over twelve years of age have access to the go-carts and the younger ones can play mini-golf.

Our facility is heavily used for fundraising and parties and we've been doing a lot of work with the local schools. We've done a program where we have given coupons for a free round of golf to Blake Elementary School for Right to Read so that the children who read a certain number of pages receive a free pass to Rinky Dink Family Fun Center. We also supplied passes to A. I. Root Jr. High School so that children who completed 100% of their homework received passes. Our goal is to actively work to develop win-win situations in support of the local community.

Whether you're part of a group in search of entertainment, an organization needing to raise funds, or a family looking to have some fun, Rinky Dink Family Fun Center provides plenty of amusements to keep you entertained for hours. While you're there, don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you!
