Evangelene Brown, "Angel" to those who know her, started doing hair when she was a lass of seventeen. A lifetime Medina resident, she worked a various local salons where her hairdressing skills earned her a loyal following of clients who kept her busy constantly. Her co-workers kept telling her that with her talent and friendliness, she should open her own shop and they would come work for her. Customers would say that if she would open her own salon, she could count on their business. How much of this can you expect a girl to hear before she starts asking herself, "well, why not?" Angel and her husband decided to open their own business and got to work laying the plans. They consulted the folks from SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, and asked them to critique their business plan. Their SCORE representative was absolutely shocked at how well they had thought out their business and was sure they would do well. Next came the research to help them find a viable location. Angel wanted to find a place that was within a half mile from the salon where she had been employed so that her customers could easily follow her. When she realized that there were absolutely no salons between Public Square and the new Beuhler's, she knew that both of her two main criteria had been met. Imagine her delight when she discovered that there also was a building available in just the right location! Salon Evangelene is not just a beauty salon, they're hair color professionals and each one of the hair dressers has a minimum of five years experience and are all color specialists. All of her hair dressers have been through Goldwell Training and have their certification but before Angel will hire anyone, regardless of their credentials, they have to cut her hair, her husband's hair, and color her mother's hair just to assure Angel that they do quality work. She feels that since her clients are her friends and have been for years, she wants to take good care of them and not let just anybody do their hair. Of course, filling her staff positions has not been a problem. They started out with eight stations and from the day they opened, they were immediately filled. The girls that Angel used to work with were all calling her to see if they could come work at Salon Evangelene. Angel knows that it's normally very difficult to find really good hair dressers so she feels blessed that she ended up with eight phenomenal ones and is flattered by the fact that these skilled professionals want to work in her salon. Although their specialties are color hi-lites and lo-lites, you can also count on Salon Evangelene for manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, and waxing in addition to gift cards. Gift cards have proven themselves to be the perfect year round gift and for your convenience, you can purchase them by telephone with a credit card and the salon will mail them to you the following day. Angel says the the key to her success is her fantastic staff. She treats them like the professionals that they are and they, in turn, make sure that Salon Evangelene's clients leave feeling pampered and special. Gee, it's times like this I wish I still had hair! When you're looking for the ultimate in fine hair care, give Salon Evangelene a call and don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you! |
