Since he was old enough to walk Scott Beard has been taking things apart, finding out how they work, and fixing them. This search for knowledge of all things mechanical led Scott to open a vehicle repair shop in 1984 in a little garage that he built behind his grandfather's house. Over the years, Scott's obsession with diagnostics and top quality repairs helped propel his business from that little garage to a 4,500 square foot shop in Hinckley, and to a new 12,000 square foot facility in Brunswick in October 2004. We stopped by Total Performance Services, Inc. recently, and listened as Scott described his company's services and offerings;

Total Performance Services, Inc. is a full service repair facility specializing in fleet repair services. We also enhance the performance of all types of vehicles by performing computer, engine, driveline, and forced air induction modifications. We pride ourselves on our diagnostic abilities and the high quality of our workmanship. Our state-of-the-art facilities include lifts that can handle from 12,000 to 50,000 pounds, an alignment machine for light to heavy duty vehicles, and an exhaust bending machine for custom exhaust bending and fabrication. We also have a chassis dynamometer that enables us to diagnose driveability problems with more accuracy than you'll find at other repair facilities.

The biggest difference between Total Performance Services, Inc. and anybody else is our dedication to quality. Most of my technicians tell me they've never done this quality of work anywhere in the past. We take everything a little farther than most repair shops, and when a vehicle leaves here it has to be repaired correctly. We handle a lot of repairs that other shops couldn't fix. Our dynamometer was a huge investment, but it allows us to perform road simulations right here in the shop. After we repair a vehicle, we re-run the tests to make sure everything is operating properly before the vehicle ever leaves the service bay. As a diagnostic tool, the dynamometer is second to none.

I was voted Best Mechanic in Medina County in 1997 by the Medina Sun and Community Life, and all of our technicians take every training class that's available to us. Of my seven person crew, four technicians are ASE certified, and the other three are training to receive their certification.
