Well, if you're in Medina County, Dan Hostetler and the Medina County Convention & Visitors Bureau love you and are your biggest supporters. Dan, the Director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been at his post since 1992 working to promote Medina County and helping to bring travelers to the local area. Through his work promoting tourism, visitors are encouraged to come to Medina County, spend the night, and visit our local shops, restaurants, and attractions making a positive economic impact on the county. Tourism dollars are new dollars to the community and they affect everyone in the local area. Any time there is new money coming into the community, everyone in Medina County benefits as those tourism dollars eventually filter throughout the local economy. State studies show that the Medina Convention & Visitors Bureau has been continually increasing the level of tourism in the county since its inception. Their promotional activities are focused on three different markets consisting of the leisure market, the group tour market, and the small meeting & convention market. The basic tool used to promote the leisure market is brochures of which they distribute approximately one hundred thousand per year through advertisements that are placed in various publications. To attract group tours, Dan travels to many different areas to meet with tour operators and show them how much Medina County has to offer to their groups. The smallest market the Convention & Visitors Bureau seeks to attract is the small meeting and convention group who are looking for meeting locations that feature both hotel accommodations and meeting facilities. Maps and directories are exchanged with other counties in Ohio and are available to travelers from Convention & Visitors Bureaus throughout the state. To assist local owners in promoting their businesses, the Medina County Convention & Visitors Bureau publishes a large map and directory, a garden brochure, a recreation guide, an antique guide, and a quarterly calendar of events where they can include listings from the local business owners for a nominal fee. In their office you'll find brochure racks where their members can even place their company's brochures for the benefit of out of town visitors who stop by while they're in the area. The Medina County Convention & Visitors Bureau constantly remains hard at work promoting Medina County and encouraging visitors to explore the possibilities that the local area holds. For more information about how you can help promote your business and Medina County, call Dan Hostetler and while you have him on the telephone, don't forget to tell him that The Advocate sent you! |
