After working in the electrical distribution industry for many years, Bill Winar, with the help of George Rees, Roy Winar, and Jim Winar, decided the time had come to start his own distribution company. They founded Winar Connection in April 1982, and in 1989 purchased a friendly competitor called #1 Sales. The company was renamed Winar #1 Sales Inc., and Bill, along with partner George Rees, have built Winar #1 Sales Inc. into a family-oriented supplier of electrical products employing twenty-three staff members. We visited with Bill recently, and listened as he outlined the company's product offerings;

Winar #1 Sales Inc. is a full service electrical products distributor specializing in terminals, connectors, cable ties, and electrical wire. We're a stocking distributor with a 10,000 square foot warehouse, and take great pride in our ability to ship your order the same day it's received. We also provide value added services, such as crimping connectors on the wire and building cable assemblies to your precise specifications. Our primary market is small to medium sized manufacturers of a wide variety of electrical equipment, although we also supply products to trucking companies, marinas, and maintenance departments of companies such as Stouffer Foods.

Our company motto is, "Common sense, with humor, we will succeed." I tell our salesmen that when they're out in the field and have to make a decision, "If it makes sense, do it. If it doesn't make sense, don't do it, but have some fun along the way." We strive to treat our employees well, and have many who have been with us for nearly twenty years. We like to feel that Winar #1 Sales Inc. is a family-oriented business and even though quite a few of our employees are not family, we like to treat them as if they are.

My partner George moved his family to Medina to provide his children with the advantages of Medina's excellent school system, and my wife and I moved to Medina to be closer to our church. We appreciate the area's more relaxed atmosphere, and are very glad we made the move.
